چکیده

Phenylacetic acid and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid are formed upon incubation of photosynthetic membranes from the prokaryotic alga Anacystis nidulans with L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine, respectively. The corresponding phenylpyruvic acids act as intermediates as shown by trapping them as the stable oximino acids. The first step in this reaction sequence appears to be catalyzed by a thylakoid-bound L-amino acid oxidase. Already existing evidence concerning phenylacetic acid formation at thylakoid membranes of higher plants via an L-amino acid oxidase and the results obtained with A. nidulans give another example of aromatic amino acids between chloroplasts and

Formation of benzoic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid in the blue green alga Anacystis nidulans: a thylakoid-bound enzyme complex analogous to the chloroplast system.

The photosynthetic procaryote Anacystis nidulans converts L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine into benzoic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, respectively. Results obtained with thylakoid fractions support the hypothesis that the reaction sequence is catalyzed by thylakoid-bound enzyme complexes consisting of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and benzoate synthase of tyrosine ammonia-lyase and p-hydroxybenzo...

[Activity of aminotransferases in the blue green alga Anacystis nidulans].

The blue-green alga Anacystis nidulans (strain L 1402-1) was grown at +37 degrees C in air (0.03 vol% CO2 and in air enriched with 3.0 vol% CO2. The effects of several inhibitors on the activity of aminotransferases, 14CO2 fixation and radioactive photosynthetic products of Anacystis were studied. No serine-pyruvate aminotransferase activity could be found in 10-2 M isonicotinyl hydrazide (INH)...

pH Changes in the Cytoplasm of the Blue-Green Alga Anacystis nidulans Caused by Light-dependent Proton Flux into the Thylakoid Space.

The pH in the cytoplasmic and thylakoid spaces of the blue-green alga, Anacystis nidulans, has been determined in the light and in the dark by uptake of 5,5-dimethyloxazolidine-2,4-dione and methylamine into the sucrose-impermeable (3)H-H(2)O space, as measured by silicon layer filtering centrifugation.Illumination causes an alkalinization in the cytoplasm which is accompanied by an acidificati...

Ribosomal ribonucleic acid synthesis and maturation in the blue-green alga Anacystis nidulans.

Methods are described for preparation of pulse-labeled ribonucleic acid (RNA) from the blue-green alga Anacystis nidulans. Synthesis of labeled RNA was found to be in part dependent on concurrent photosynthesis and was inhibited by the antibiotic streptolydigin. Mature 23S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) appeared before mature 16S rRNA. Formation of either molecule was inhibited by chloramphenicol, and RN...

Precursor of 5S ribosomal ribonucleic acid in the blue-green alga Anacystis nidulans.

The maturation of 5S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) in the obligately photoautotrophic unicellular blue-green alga Anacystis nidulans has been studied by using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and T1 ribonuclease oligonucleotide analysis. A. nidulans mature 5S rRNA (m5) is of approximately the same molecular weight as the 5S rRNA of Escherichia coli, and is derived by cleavage of a precurs...
